The carbon footprint represents all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by an organization, activity, or company within a given period. These GHGs include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, and other industrial compounds.

1. ISO 14064:2019

Requires reporting of Scope 1, 2, and 3. Classifies emissions into 6 categories: fuel consumption, electricity, transportation, products used, use of sold products, and other indirect sources.

2. GHG Protocol

More flexible; many companies choose it because it does not require Scope 3 reporting. Divides emissions into:
