🌳 1. GHG Protocol
The GHG Protocol provides standards and tools for organizations to quantify and manage their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Its approach is based on three scopes:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions associated with the generation of purchased and consumed electricity.
- Scope 3: All other indirect emissions occurring in the company’s value chain, including suppliers and customers.
Steps to implement a reduction plan
- Emission quantification: Use standardized methodologies to measure emissions across the three scopes.
- Identify reduction opportunities: Analyze processes and operations to find areas where emissions can be reduced.
- Set goals: Define clear and achievable emission reduction targets.
- Implement actions: Adopt technologies and practices to reduce emissions, such as energy efficiency or renewable energy use.
- Monitoring and reporting: Continuously track progress and transparently report results.

🎯 2. Science Based Targets (SBTi)
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) helps companies set emission reduction targets aligned with climate science, in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Why use SBTi?
Benefits:
- Demonstrates leadership in sustainability and climate responsibility.
- Attracts investment and builds stakeholder trust.
